Debate Team

This is an awesome video...
...don't judge the album by the song though.  This is the "loud" song off the album.

FALL is HERE ...

... next week.  Rain has arrived.  Leaves are turning.  October is just around the corner.  Had iTunes on shuffle today and it seemed to play just the right songs.  Here are a few...

Their website says "... 2011 might be the year."
As there is not much of 2011 left, hopefully 2012 will be more successful.

Long-View... another band that needs to release a record.
Mercury is still one of my favorite albums.

Farewell Flight

Pretty catchy song if given a chance...

From "Sound. Color. Motion."

From the Split EP w/ Deas Vail

Summer Fiction

Great summer song.  If I heard this on the radio I would think it was Guster.

Soup

I have "The Children of E.L.B" but not thier earlier album.  It is a bit "space-rocky" and can get noisy on some tracks, but they hit the right stride on some of the songs.  My favorite track is "Northern Patriarch" but I can't find a clip of the track to post.

Watch the videos all the way through, most the songs are long and reach full speed towards the end.

Space March

A little something to tickle our inner space cowboys...

A good song from their new album:

i Like Trains

Another Artist I had to add.  A few of my favorite songs....

"A Father's Son"

"Sirens"  Another cool video from He Who Saw The Deep
Dark.

Amazing song...

The National "Conversation 16"

I know you guys have seen this already but had to add it.  Couldn't start a blog about good music and not include the National ...

A little insight into the song...

"The zombie reference is metaphorical. He's afraid that he'll become a "zombie" in life.

The verses (and a lot of the album) describes these really mundane, everyday rituals of family life and moving on into middle age. The narrator is just going with the flow: doing what is expected of him, not disappointing anyone, reading the script of his movie, keeping his shitty thoughts to himself and only telling his wife about them after she's asleep. It's making him turn into a "zombie" though... he's becoming less enthused about life, he's unable to express himself, going through the motions, becoming a "confident liar," etc.

In the last verse he states all of the anti-zombie things he wants: to be romantic, to believe, to be safe, to continue loving his wife... but he's ultimately afraid he'll "eat her brains". He's afraid that the ritual of everyday life will strip him of his appealing aspects until he's unable to feel emotion (like a zombie) and cause him to do harm to the person he loves and wants the most (eat her brains).
Because he's evil. "

....from a post on a different site

Will Driving West "The Breakout"

Most songs have nice string sections... good mellow album.

"Thieves" official video

The Unwinding Hours "The Unwinding Hours"

Another great Scottish band.  Not sure if you guys have this already, released early 2010.  I'm just now giving them their due attention.

Not too sure about the animation but excellent song.

Aggression comes out about half way through the song...

Another great song.  Amateur video, too much background noise but not too bad for a live concert.  Guy's obviously singing from the heart ( bitter intro).

Amor de Dias "Wild Winter Trees"

Lead singer from The Clientele side progject. Album has a few good songs but is primarily female vocals - some in Spanish.
